About Jim

I am an Ordained minister within a recognized religious denomination and am presently working as a Chaplain within the Spiritual Care Department of one of Canada’s top rated hospitals. I have a Masters of Divinity degree in Pastoral Care and Counseling, as well as some training in Applied and Basic Primary Health Care. This training has taken me to many parts of the world where I have experienced considerable cultural diversity. Currently, I am pursuing Advanced Clinical Pastoral Education with the CASC towards obtaining my Specialist Certification.

Our military veterans and 'active duty' soldiers hold a special place in my heart. I have a keen interest in PTSD, Moral Injury and Post Traumatic Growth and the integration of Spiritual Care with current PTSD psychotherapeutic approaches. I am also a Associate member of the Canadian Legion and support member of the Canadian Army Veterans Motorcycle Unit, which endeavors to raise finances and public awareness for Canadian Veterans i.e. annual Trooper Mark Wilson Ride ( http://www.thecav.ca/).

As a minister, I love to see people mature in Christ. Truth and integrity are big with me. Character speaks volumes more than talent and knowledge. I will say that godly truth and right understanding are the stuff that shape all true seekers, and lets not forget about suffering and sacrifice; foreign concepts for many that ascribe to a prosperity theology. However perseverance is the key to godly character, which in turn leads to godly acts (2 Peter 1:1-11).

I have traveled much of the world and seen a lot of suffering. It really disturbs me when I see the poor oppressed. Isaiah 61:1-3 comes to mind here. If there was ever a world that needed Jesus (the gospel) it is this world.

I continue to recognize that my strength and hope are in Jesus. I identify with Him in His death and resurrection, as my atoning substitute. I endeavour to know Him and pray I will reveal Him through my words, actions and convictions. I thank Him for His mercy and trust in His grace. I am not perfect in myself but recognize God's acceptance of me came at the cost of His Son Jesus. My greatest hope while on this earth is to honour Him and display Him in a manner worthy of Him. I may often fail, but I endeavour to "press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 3:14).

Who are you?
