God's Lovingkindess Prevails

Jeremiah 31:3, "With lovingkindness have I drawn thee."

"So in every case: lovingkindness wins the day. What Moses with the tablets of stone could never do, Christ does with his pierced hand."
- Spurgeon -

The legislation of law can never effect the transformation of the human heart, nor can justice prevail if the law is not upheld. What can resolve this apparent dichotomy? A pierced hand over that of an iron glove is the remedy. Only God's love can counteract so desperate our situation. But that love came at a price to God Himself.

Some believe that God has demanded too much sacrifice on behalf of those on the earth. Too much cost to pledge their allegiances, when in truth the sacrifice God demanded fell squarely upon Himself. God demonstrated this love, despite our faults and failures, through Christ taking the role of the sacrificial lamb. God's iron glove of justice fell upon Himself as it were.

Within this display of Gods' love is bound His faithfulness to uphold that love into eternity, and this promise continues to evidence itself today, bearing witness to His unchangeable nature through the lives of those who put there trust in Him.

What assurance do we have as those who put our faith in Him? The historical assurance of a crucified carpenter's son. The assurance of the Lamb of Gods' spilled blood crying mercy rather than judgment and revenge. The assurances of myriads and myriads of faithful followers. Yes, the assurance of an empty tomb. With this in mind ...

Psalm 23:6
"Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever."

Despite life’s storms, God remains a faithful refuge and deliverer to those who look to Him. Life may deal some harsh blows but love is as strong as death. (Song of Solomon 8:6 & 1 John 8:14.) It is by God's love demonstrated through Christ's life and death, and not the gavel of the law, that we are rescued.

This love then is an invaluable commodity that none of us can afford to neglect. It is part of heavens economy and the mark of every true believer. God's love is both tangible and ethereal as understood through His Son; True love, pure love, unadulterated love came to us from outside ourselves. Other-worldly. Demonstrated by His actions and inherent in His nature. Our life stands barren and we are remiss if we fail to embrace this love's cultivation into our lives. Understanding and embracing God's love for us empowers us to live a life worth living.

1 Corinthians 13
"If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.

So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love."

May God's grace give us strength to trust in His faithfulness. May our eyes be opened to the steadfastness of His love as demonstrated through the gift of His Son. It begins and ends with Jesus. May Gods mercy lead us to the solace and refuge found in His Son and may His love liberate us from every fear that plagues this world.

1 John 4:9, "In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him."
