Considering the Bigness of God

Here's something to meditate on...
We often think about the bigness of God as something in relation to His omnipresence, omniscience or sovereignty. Well what about the bigness of His sacrifice? Consider your own sin.

Now sin is a condition that expresses itself in our living, thinking, speaking and feeling. Take a moment and consider every manifestation of this condition in your own life; every thought, attitude, word spoken and deed done and then multiply it times 24/7 ... times 30, 40, 50+ years. To better appreciate this lets say every sinful expression equaled a pound, what would be the weight of it? Could you bear that weight? No, not even with 10 men could you carry it. Then consider each person who has ever been, who is and who will ever be, and add their sinfulness to that weight. That is what Jesus bore on the cross. Wow! This Easter consider this.

Isaiah 53:4-6

Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

1 Peter 2:24

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
